About the Project

Litlunches is a reading guide for people who want to read real books in Spanish and English while learning the language.

It is primarily for intermediate and advanced language learners, as well as anyone interested in reading literature in these languages. The focus is on authentic fiction rather than graded readers or simplified texts.

Why Litlunches exists

I’m Vera, and I created Litlunches because I was learning Spanish and wanted to read Spanish books.

Finding the right books turned out to be surprisingly difficult. Beginner-friendly recommendations were often too simple to keep me interested, while books written for native speakers could be difficult to sustain as a language-learning activity.

I wanted to find the middle ground: real books that are accessible enough to read in another language, but engaging enough to make you want to keep turning the pages.

That is what Litlunches is for.

Reading for language learning

Litlunches is built around the idea of comprehensible input: meaningful exposure to language that you can understand sufficiently to follow the message.

Reading fiction is particularly well suited to this because you encounter language in context, repeatedly and naturally, while following a story or becoming absorbed in a subject that interests you.

The aim is not to make literature easier. It is to make it easier to find literature you can actually read at your current level.

If you are looking for your next Spanish or English book, Litlunches is designed to help you find one that is both within reach and worth reading.
